You and your family can celebrate with others at the Port of San Diego throughout the month of January. If you are looking for something to do on January 26th, you should consider checking out the Big Bay Whale Days celebration from 11-3 at The Port of San Diego. Recipe for happiness…

Happy New Year!! Lets Stop and Celebrate!

This is such a busy time of year. There are parties, get-togethers, award dinners…you name it. Its hustle and bustle time! One minute you are sitting down for a Thanksgiving dinner and the next thing you know its time for New Years Eve parties. All it takes is for you to blink and…BAM! An entire month has passed you by. Woven in between the appointments, showings, and other “work stuff” are the truely meaningful things that should be given the respect and attention they deserve. Im constantly asking myself the “mom questions.” Did you take time to video your kids this season opening presents? Did you take time to tell your folks how much you appreciate them now that you see for yourself how hard raising kids is during the “teen years?”  Well, I sure hope I did all of these things!! And I sure hope my family knows how much I appreciate each and every one of them!

I know for myself that life is just passing way to quickly! I mean how on earth did I get to be the mom to two teenage sons? Seems like just a minute or two ago my boys were in elementary school at Midland in Poway. Now they are both in High School and one is getting acceptance letters to start college next Fall. That’s just crazy! Can I possibly be the mom to an almost adult son? Yikes!

My wish for all of my family and friends this year is good health and peace in the New Year! But I would also add that my wish for all of us is the need to just slow down a bit. Slow down and really enjoy each moment of our lives. I don’t really believe in resolutions but if I did this would be the one I would make. I hope we all really enjoy time with one another and live in each moment. Life is just too darn short to hustle through the good stuff.  Its too precious to be preoccupied or oblivious to the important people all around us.

Here is to 2013! May it bring you great memories and lots of love!!

In San Diego “Life is Always a Beach”

If San Diego is known for one thing, it would be for our perfect year round weather. For North County residents (such as myself) now that we have highway 56 we can be at the beach in as little as 20 minutes. One of my favorite places is Torrey Pines State Beach. It is home to some of San Diego’s best hiking trails and happens to be home to one of our prettiest sections of coastline. As an avid hiker, I find that I head over to Torrey Pines so much that I purchase their annual parking pass for the convenience it provides me. There is nothing better than ending an afternoon at Torrey Pines taking in the sounds of the waves as you hike up and through the gorgeous hills that surround the beach. Not a hiker? Its still a great place to unwind and relax. It’s also a great spot for people who like to fish from the coastline, boogie board, swim or surf. If you’re lucky you might even see dolphins swim by during one of your visits. Rumor has it that in certain seasons you may be able to spot whale or two from the coastline. The luxury of being so close to the beach is just one of San Diego’s perks. There really is nothing better than having the privilege to “head to the beach” any day you want to.

So grab your best hiking shoes or swim suit, towels, sunscreen and head over to Torrey Pines! I will see you on the trails!

Whew! Its Finally November 7th!

God Bless America

Well…Its over! The votes are counted and the results are in. The good news is that the political ads will stop on television and there also wont be so much “trash” in our mailboxes. I don’t know if your candidate won but it was great to see so many people get involved. Were you on Twitter or Facebook at all yesterday? If so then you saw the passion in the “tweets” and “posts” about the election all day long! As Americans, we should all agree that in the end it’s our country as a whole that really matters. Not the individual political parties. We dont all have to agree on every issue. Call me crazy but I’d say its actually better if we dont!! Lets be honest…when someone who may disagree with you on a particular point can convey their thought in a passionate and civil way we all learn something.  I don’t believe we all have to agree on all issues all the time. Its so much more engaging if we don’t so long as it’s done respectfully…wouldn’t you agree? That said, I do believe now that the election is over we all need to unite as a whole. No more “your side” verses “my side.” Lets actually listen to each other instead of debating each other and without trying to convert anybody else’s way of thinking!! Let’s not get caught up in trying to prove who is right or prove someone else is wrong. This is the worlds greatest country with great ideas and fantastic people. Everyone has to come together as one united front now. It’s time to move forward without looking back.
